Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS5 Pro LED Combo Pod Light. Now this five inch LED Combo Pod Light is gonna be great for seeing things near and far. It's gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. As you can see, I do have this connected to my power source already, and what you're currently seeing is one of my favorite features.
It's the amber backlight. So this is going to be great for a stylish touch or more visibility when you're not using that main beam. So as you saw, I shut my studio lights off here and went back to my wide view, just so you can see what that amber backlight's gonna look like in low light or dark conditions from a distance. And then let me go ahead and fire up that main beam, just so you can see the difference. So there's our beam, there's our backlight, and then let me see if I can turn this light to the wall behind me to give you a good look at that beam.
So this light features this combo pattern, which is a mix between your driving beam pattern and your flood beam pattern. So that's gonna make this light great for all around use. This light has a color temperature of 3000 kelvin. So this yellow color is gonna be great for bad weather, and it's gonna cut through the rain and fog. And this light has a raw lumen rating of 8,900 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 7,900 lumens.
So even with my studio lights back on, you can still see that light and just see how bright this is. So this light does have a peak beam intensity of 58,500 candela. And in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output. It's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs, where you want light shining in all directions.
But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. So the power draw on that main beam is six amps, and on the backlight, it's 0.24 amps. This light is designed with a newer technology, known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't real great at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom design, large TIR optic actually collects and then focuses all the light forward very efficiently. And then instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into the surface of this lens. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're going to lose some of that light. You could lose up to 10% of it, just from it shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're actually going to gain some efficiency, rather than lose it. Now looking at the back of this light, we do have the industry standard integrated Deutsch style connector. Obviously I have that all plugged in, powering the light, but here's what that pigtail looks like when it's not being used. So it's going to plug right into the back of that light. Then you'll wire this up. And while we're continuing to look at the back of the light down here, you see that we do have two breather patches. So that's gonna prevent any moisture buildup in this light. And then we have these heat sinks here on the back housing. They're gonna do a great job of dissipating heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now this light has been designed with high intensity LED chips, and it does feature a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. So this heavy duty construction is gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion and vibration. Testing has been completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting fact is that Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled this light, right down the highway from us, at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Now let's look at some overall measurements of this light. Measuring the width from end to end, we're sitting right at about five and one eighth inches wide. That's gonna be the same measurement for the height, but then looking at the depth, measuring from the front of the light, all the way to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting pretty close to two and three quarters inches deep. Now this light does draw high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you are not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, be sure that you're using wiring that's 16 gauge or larger. Now, I do wanna let you know that we do carry this same light with a bracket and hardware if you're interested in that. Or you can get a set of two of these lights with brackets and hardware. You can find those options here at etrailer.com. Something else that I wanted to mention is if this light isn't exactly what you're looking for, we do carry a wide selection of lights from Diode Dynamics here at etrailer.com. So be sure to check out the other offerings that we carry from them. We have different sizes, different types of lights, different power levels, different features. So I'm confident you're gonna be able to find just what you're looking for. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been illuminating for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
